Compact Derby 4&6 cylinder

Drivers must be at least 16 years of age. 16 and 17 year old need to have a signed consent waiver
by parents or guardian to participate. Drivers must furnish his/her own car. All drivers and pit crew must
sign a liability waiver and purchase a pit pass before entering the pit area or track. All drivers must
attend the driver’s meeting prior to race time. No drugs or alcohol will be permitted in the pit area. Any
person in the pit area suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to
compete and will be asked to leave. NO REFUND. Unsportsmanlike conduct from drivers or spectators
could result in ban or suspension from event/events.


Compact Derby:
Consists of 4 and 6 cylinder cars as described below that must qualify during a heat in order to qualify
for compact feature. Must use the same car in heat and feature. No fresh cars in the feature.


4 Cylinder Cars Permitted:
Any factory equipped 4 cylinder, 2 or 4 door sedan or station wagon. No light commercial vehicles, SUVs,
trucks or vans. AWD cars must remove one drive shaft.


6 Cylinder Cars Permitted:
Any factory equipped 6 cylinder FWD, 2 or 4 door, sedan or station wagon. No light commercial vehicles,
SUVs, trucks, or vans.
Drivers must hit a live vehicle every 60 seconds.


Safety:
Drivers are required to wear a DOT approved helmet and safety glasses or goggles. Drivers must wear
full length pants. Must wear footwear that completely covers feet. Please also wear gloves for hand
protection. Safety is our first priority while on the grounds. There will be zero tolerance of any unsafe
acts. Misconduct of a driver or crew member can disqualify the driver and car from the event. All
decisions of the judges are final.


Stripping Vehicles:
ALL unnecessary glass, plastic, chrome moldings, carpet, mirrors, emblems, and flammable materials
shall be removed. No broken windows in doors. All cars must be clean and free of loose debris in the
drivers compartment and the trunk. All airbags MUST be completely removed. Drain all air conditioners.
All associated rubber hoses must be cut or removed prior to arrival at the track. All trailer/towing
hitches must be removed.


Car appearance:
Each car needs it’s own distinct number where it can easily be read in contrasting colors. Roof sign
recommended.


Cages & Driver Protection:
Factory dash may be removed. You MUST have seat bar from B post to B post as a MINIMUM. All cage bars must be 5 inches from the floor.
Side bars may not extend past seat bar by 1 foot.
No down bars to floor.
Cages are intended for safety, not to reinforce the car.
Halos will be allowed, given the vertical bars do not extend more than 4 inches past horizontal roof bar.
A center bar is allowed for mounting shifter and switches ect.
No outside door bars.


Windshield bars:
For drivers safety, 2 bars or 1 inch flat bar strapping must be mounted vertically from firewall to roof
over the windshield area. Windshield bars must be bolted or welded to sheet metal or extend to halo.


Rear window bar:
Bar must only attach to trunk lid and roof by no more then 6 inches of area on the roof and trunk. Do
not attach to halo. You may use a 6”x6”x1/4” plate maximum for mounting bar. Bar CANNOT attach to
cage or gas tank protector.


Fuel cell/factory tank:
Stock tanks permitted as long as they are forward of rear wheels. Factory tank under car must be
chained or 9 wired in 2 spots around tank and floor
No Jerry cans, gas cans or plastic tanks as fuel tanks.
No factory tanks inside of car.
Fuel cells are recommended.
Must use fuel injection rated hose on fuel injected cars.
Must be mounted in back seat area or to the cage.
No rubber tie downs or zip ties.
No zip screws will be permitted.
Must be bolted or chained in place and must not move.
If mounting to floor, fuel cell cannot be attached to cage.
Factory tank must be removed if running fuel cell.
Fuel lines must be ran in a safe manner and be protected from cutting or crushing.
Maximum capacity of fuel cell permitted is 10 gallons.
Electric fuel pump must have a kill switch that is clearly marked.
Any fuel leaks will disqualify cars from participating. Please use secure leak proof fittings and good hose
clamps and make sure they are tight.
All fuel tanks should be covered with a rubber mat, a metal cover, or both.
As mentioned above, safety is our first priority.


Gas tank protector:
Will be permitted to touch speaker deck. Can use up to 4 inch diameter material for protector.
Protector must be 5 inches off floor and cannot touch either side of the car.
Cars that do not have a speaker deck. Protector cannot be longer then 36 inches. Measured from back
of driver seat.
Protector cannot be welded to any sheet metal.


Batteries:
A limit of two batteries will be permitted. Batteries may be moved inside to the passenger side
floorboard. Batteries must be in a secure box and be covered (No metal covers). No plastic battery box
allowed. We recommend metal battery boxes be bolted to the floor with no smaller then 3/8 inch bolts
and washers.
Brakes & Steering:
A working hydraulic brake system is required. You must exhibit the ability to stop. Anyone losing their
brakes during an event will be disqualified.
steering wheel to steering rack maybe modified.
Do not reinforce the steering rack.
Tie rods may be welded or reinforced.
ALL AIR BAGS MUST BE REMOVED.


Tires & Rims:
Drive tires must be air filled only.
No liquid or concrete filled tires.
No studded tires.
Any ply rating allowed.
Doubled tires will be allowed.
All wheel weights must be removed, including on the inside of the wheels.
No valve stem protectors on drive wheels.
No bead locks no rim guards.
ONLY REAR TIRES ON FWD CARS MAY BE SOLID.
For solid rear wheels no gussets. Only modifications permitted will be small weld in centers and
narrowed rims. No other modifications of the rim.


Body & Frame:
Stock body mount/sub frame mounts may be replaced with a hockey puck and ¾ inch bolt or all thread
maximum. No frame modifications.
No stuffed frames of any kind.
Front 2 body mounts may have ¾ inch all thread through core support and hood and be used as a hood
hold down. No pipe over all thread. Maximum washer size 3”x3”x1/4” do not weld washers.
For the front two sub frame mounts, you may remove factory rubber mount and draw tight.
Do not touch front sub frame rear mounts.
You may crease body lines.
Sunroof hole MUST be covered and secured with same thickness metal as the roof.
Front Frame/sub frame may ONLY be seam welded first 12 inches of frame.


Front frame reinforcement plates:

You may use ( 2 ) 4″x 12″ x ¼” plates per frame rail to reinforce front frame. 4 plates total, 2 per side,
firewall forward. You cannot over lap plates.


Fix it plates:
2 per frame 6”x 6”x ¼” may be used on fresh or pre ran cars. That’s all you get for your build. Use them
wisely. You may not over lap other fix it plates or frame plates.


Patching and rust repair to body and/or frame will be allowed only if cleared in advance. You may be
required to show before and after photos of any repairs. Please contact Jeff Dauberman with any

Hood:
Hood must have at least an 8″ x 8” hole near the center for fire personnel access.
Hood may be secured in a total of 8 places of your choice –
– Chain (3⁄8” max)
– #9 wire
– Bolted in 4 spots per side of hood with angle iron 2”x2” angle iron 3” long max.
Hood must be able to be opened for inspection.
Factory Hood latch must be removed.
Car must have a hood.


Doors/Trunk:
May have a total of 12 places combination of your choice on each panel by –
– Welding metal plates (3”x3”x 1/4” max)
– Chain (3⁄8” max)
– # 9 wire (3 strand max)
– Banding (3” max)
ONLY THE DRIVER’S DOOR MAY BE FULLY SEAM WELDED for safety purposes (2”x 1/4” straps max)
No other body seams may be fully seam welded.
Trunks may be tucked.
NO wedging. Keep quarter panels vertical.
NO welding on inside of trunk seams.
Trunks can be welded to floor in 3 spots using 3”x3”x1/4” plate.
Trunks may be canoed but must be minimum of 7 inches from the floor and have a 6″× 6″ inspection
hole.


Bumpers:
Any OEM bumper may be seam welded. It also may be loaded on the inside. You may weld the holes
shut. You can use ¼ inch thick plate to weld the turn signal and other larger holes.
No replica bumpers.
No homemade pointy bumpers.
Smith metal works/ DEC bumpers are allowed. Can be seam welded and loaded on the inside and have
end caps no sharp/pointed ends.
Frame may be shortened to mount bumper but core support and mounts may not be modified.
Bumper ends cannot stick out past body of car at all. We will make you cut it back.
Bumpers front and rear MUST be chained ¼ inch chain or 9 wire two strands in 2 locations and must be
tight. No dog chain. We do not want bumpers coming off.
No plastic/ fiberglass bumpers.


Square tubing for bumpers:
4×8 square tubing maximum size.
If fully skinned with an OEM bumper skin, the tube may be as long as the width of the car.
If square tubing is used without being fully skinned with an OEM bumper skin, It can only be 5 inches
past the outside frame rail.


Bumper Shocks:
Any OEM Stock shock may be used in a stock manner.
Shocks may be compressed and welded.
Shock plate may be welded to frame/sub frame.
Bumper shocks may not be welded over top frame plates.


Engines, Transmissions & Drive shafts:
Engine & transmission may be swapped, lower cradles allowed for engine swapping purposes only.
Engine may be secured by solid mounts and/or chain, must not strengthen the car or any other
components.
EFI to Carb swaps allowed.
No sliders shafts in RWD 4cly cars allowed.
Electronics may be relocated.
Stacks will be permitted and are preferred.
Exhaust underneath car will be permitted.
Water only in cooling system. Please drain antifreeze prior to arrival at the track.
Electric fans only.
NO engine mounted fans permitted.
All engine electric cooling fans must be under hood.
No external radiator guards/protectors.
Trans coolers may be relocated under hood or in backseat area.
Some type of air cleaner must be used.
Differentials may be welded.


Suspension:
Front and rear must remain STOCK. But you may stiffen with 1 inch rod or pipe in spring area. Do not
alter strut or any of the mounting locations.
You may reinforce trailing arms. 2″x2″1/4″ thick maximum.
Struts may also have a 2″×2″, 6 inch long piece of square tube or angle iron welded behind struts to
keep them from bending inward on side impacts. Pick one. You cannot run both.
Strut bars may be used from strut tower to strut tower, 1 bar only per front/rear no bigger then
2″×2″1/4” box tube.


ALL AIR BAGS MUST BE REMOVED!!!


Any frame/uni body/rocker panel/body panel/ bumper/etc. may be drilled to scope inside if deemed
necessary for inspection.
